Baubles for Backpacks

“There are some causes and organizations that speak to my heart and Midwest Food Bank is one of those for Signature Staffing. Last year, they distributed over $25 million in food to agencies and nonprofits to combat hunger and food insecurity in central PA,” says Owner & CEO Pamela Hill.

Signature Staffing was honored to attend and support the 2025 Baubles for Backpacks event at The Willows at Ashcombe Mansion on April 11. Created by Executive Director Kathy Anderson-Martin, the 2nd Annual Baubles for Backpacks raised over $100,000 to provide food for weekend backpacks for children in need.

“This year, Midwest Food Bank PA will distribute $30 million of food to 200 nonprofit partners free of charge. Without our partners and incredible servant leaders like Pamela Hill and Signature Staffing, we would never be able to provide food to so many families, individuals, and children,” says Anderson-Martin. “Not only does Signature Staffing sponsor our events and support our programs, we are able to refer our partners to them as an employment source for their clients. We can provide food to help meet basic needs; Signature Staffing provides employment and self-sufficiency!”

As I See It—The Child Care Crisis: A Path Forward for PA Families, Businesses

Pamela Hill was featured in the April 2025 issue of Harrisburg Magazine with “As I See It—The Child Care Crisis: A Path Forward for PA Families, Businesses” sharing ideas and discussing solutions for Pennsylvania’s child care crisis.

“Every company in the state that is searching for talent and hiring has experienced the repercussions from a lack of accessible, affordable child care in Pennsylvania. It’s not just a women’s issue, either. It affects the entire workforce, and we can’t wait for new policies or for the supply of day care centers to meet the demands of young families. That will take years. We need solutions today,” says Pamela.

That’s why Pamela and several business leaders have organized a town hall to help solve these problems together. “Whether you’re a business owner, working parent, CEO, or job seeker, we invite you to be part of finding those solutions. Join the Cumberland County Commission on Women for a Child Care Town Hall on May 29 at the Members 1st Community Room in Enola, 11 AM to 1:15 PM, as we explore opportunities to support our working families and keep our companies on a path to growth and prosperity.”

Pamela Hill Brings Attention to the Need for Affordable Childcare in PA

In May 2024, Governor Shapiro noted that he wanted to ensure PA remains a competitive market for state workers. As 24% of the Commonwealth workforce reaches retirement age in the next five years, he believes the time is now to incentivize the best and brightest. https://penncapital-star.com/briefs/shapiro-says-his-administration-is-preparing-to-hire-the-next-generation-of-state-workers/

Pamela Hill, founder and CEO of Signature Staffing Inc., a WBENC certified company, would love to see those incentives expand into private enterprise as well. And she’s helping to find solutions to an issue that is impacting PA’s aspiring workforce.

“Owner of Signature Staffing in Lemoyne, Pamela Hill, said to help get more people into work during the summer months, employers are starting to be more flexible for working parents.”

Childcare is an even bigger challenge in the summer. “We place hundreds of excellent job seekers in positions, but in at least 60% of our interviews, access to affordable, quality childcare is a critical barrier,” says Hill. “Every industry, including light industrial and clerical is affected by the childcare crisis.”
